Floriferous and fruitful column shaped variety. Strong growing shrub with columnar, narrow habit, reaching 3-4 m in height, occupying little space in the garden. Straight, upright stems, richly leaved. The leaves are composed of 5-7-toothed leaflets. White flowers in corymbs. Shrubs bloom in June. Dark Purple, round berries ripen in August. Best fruit yields if other varieties of elderberries grow nearby. Fruits and flowers are edible. Can be used to prepare tinctures with medicinal properties. Tolerant shrub, grows best in fertile, damp soils high in organic matter, but also tolerates weaker and dryer soils. Requires sunny locations, or lightly shaded. Recommended for both small and large gardens as an ornamental plant and for collecting flowers or fruits. It is suitable for creating original, unformed hedges or as a background bedding plant. Looks great planted in a container.
