This compact growing set of laurocerasus consists out of three types:
‘Ani’ EU38986 – ‘Gabi’ EU38987 – ‘Josa’ EU38988
These types have been ennobled by Dr. Jozsa Miklos from Hungary and brought into the market, as well as protected, by Heco Stekcultures B.V. from the Netherlands.
The cross-breeding program which was setup by Dr. Jozsa Miklos was intended to create a laurel which remained compact, was winter resistant within Central and Eastern Europe as well as the ability to resist extreme heat. The cross-breeding as he had envisioned was a success which resulted in these three clones. The ‘Josa’ has soft orange offshoots and grows in a nice feathered kind of way.
All 3 types are perfect for hedges and to grow on stem. Because of the insertion of the Caucasus types these selections can take temperatures down to -30° Celsius and are very winter resistant without displaying any damage.
Prunus laurocerasus ‘Josa’ is protected by CPVO with number: EU38988. Propagation without any written permission is prohibited.
